Integrated water resources management (IWRM) is one of Africa’s key challenges. In recent years, satellite technologies and computer modeling systems have emerged as the most important decision making tools. Particularly in Africa, where ground-based water resource monitoring systems are sparse, these advanced techniques the potential to make a breakthrough in IWRM.

Conducting applied research in water resources using satellite observations and computer modeling systems in the core of what Afriwater does. Besides conducting research, Afriwater is also engaged in education, training and consultancy services.
